311 is Edmonton’s non-emergency contact for City government information and services, and provides residents, businesses and visitors with a central point of contact for their city needs.
Connect with 311 online, via the 311 app on your mobile device or by speaking with an agent.

Check Your Status
Legend
SUBMITTED received; a service request is being created.
OPEN or "In Process". Logged and assigned to the relevant City department for action.
CLOSED means one of the following:
- The problem has been fixed.
- The question, concern or complaint has been addressed or answered.
- An existing request covers this location (use the reference number in the "related ticket field" to monitor progress).
- Insufficient details were provided and we couldn't reach you.
- The request falls outside City service scope.
Next Steps
Review your submission details for specific outcome information. If your request was closed but doesn't meet these criteria, or if you need more details, please call 311.
Related Ticket Number signifies a duplicate request. The newer request is typically closed or marked as duplicate, and the City proceeds with resolving the concern. To check the status, use the related ticket number.
The estimated time for resolution. Seasonal factors may lead to longer service timelines. However, resolution could occur sooner if conditions are favourable.
If the specified timeline has passed and the issue is unresolved, contact 311.
All requests raised to 311, including the details of each request and an update of the status, can be found on:
Features
The upgraded 311 App:
- Has an enhanced user-friendly design to support easier navigation
- Has improved location accuracy to help locate issues and reduce duplication
- Can suggest the most relevant services based on the submitted photos and/or description
With the app, you can:
- Send up to 3 photos (optional)
- View and bookmark submissions by other users that might be of interest
Using the 311 App
Reporting through the 311 app is another way to contact 311. Your request receives the same priority whether it is phoned in, reported online or through the mobile app. Response time may vary based on severity, location, weather, workload and other factors.
If you wish to report a concern from your current location, your ‘Location Service’ or GPS needs to be enabled on your mobile device. This will allow our Edmonton 311 mobile app to automatically detect and auto populate the location of your request.
If you wish to report a concern at a different location, you can tap and drag the map pin to the correct location.
To enable 'Location Services' or GPS:
iPhone
- Go to Settings
- Tap on Privacy
- Choose Location Services
- Scroll down to Edmonton 311 app and change the settings to ‘On’
For more see Apple Support.
Android
- Go to Settings
- Select More
- Choose Location Services
- Check the Access to my location check box
For more see Google Help Center.
Your service request will be directed to the responsible City area. That department follows up on each report and will determine corrective action based on severity, location and other factors.
Check the 'You' tab on the Edmonton 311 Mobile App. You can also use the 'Check Your Status' tool on this webpage.
When your status appears as Open or In Progress, this means that your service request has been received and assigned to the appropriate City area for review and action. Response times are dependent on several factors, including weather conditions, availability of resources and assessed priority of work required.
When your status appears as Closed, this means the service request has been resolved. A closed status means:
- The issue was resolved, or the required service has been provided.
- The submission is a duplicate of an existing request at the same location. Monitor progress using the original ticket number found in the “related ticket” field.
- Insufficient details were provided and contact could not be made.
- The request is outside City jurisdiction or service scope.
The nature of some services is highly weather-dependent, while other services may require investigation, resulting in a lengthier timeline to address. If you are seeking an update, please contact 311.
Privacy and Terms of Service
1. Personal Information
The 311 App allows you to report a service request to the City and provides you the option to submit related photographs taken using your mobile device as well as your geographic location. For certain service requests, you must provide your name and contact information so the City can appropriately respond to your request. For other service requests, providing this information is optional.
Personal information is collected for the purpose of responding to your service request and enforcing municipal bylaws. Collection is authorized under section 4(c) of the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) and is managed and protected in accordance with the Act. In particular, personal information submitted through the 311 App will be disclosed to appropriate business areas within the City so they may respond to your service request. For parking complaints, your information is provided to the City's parking enforcement contractor. In addition, if the service request leads to bylaw enforcement, your personal information may be required to be disclosed as part of the court proceeding. If this service request relates to a matter that involves an entity other than the City, such as utility service requests, your personal information may be disclosed to the appropriate entity in order to respond to the request. For questions about the collection or use of this information, please contact the Manager, Call Centre Operations at 780-495-1985.
2. Device information
By installing and using the 311 App, you agree that the City may collect and use information about your mobile device, including but not limited to your mobile telephone number. The City may collect and use this information for the purpose of contacting you about service requests submitted through the 311 App or providing you with general information about the 311 App and/or related City programs. If you have any questions about the collection or use of this information, please contact the Manager, Call Centre Operations at 780-495-1985.
3. Copyright and Intellectual Property Rights
The 311 App and all of its contents are protected by Canadian and International copyright and trademark laws and may not be used or reproduced without the express written consent of the City. Unauthorized use of the 311 App or its contents may violate copyright, trademark and other laws. Copying, repackaging, redistributing or modifying the 311 App, in whole or in part, in printed or electronic format, is strictly prohibited.
The City grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and make personal use of the 311 App for the non-commercial purpose of submitting and reviewing service requests. You are prohibited from modifying the 311 App or its contents in any manner whatsoever.
No derivative use of the 311 App or its contents or any use of data mining, robots, spiders, search/retrieval applications or similar data-gathering and extraction tools is permitted. Any unauthorized use of the 311 App automatically terminates the license granted by this Agreement.
If you submit a service request, including any photographs and your geographic location, you hereby grant the City an irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free right to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, and display such submissions worldwide and you irrevocably waive all moral rights to such submissions. You represent and warrant that you own or otherwise control all rights to any submissions made and that your submissions do not violate this Agreement. You understand that the City does not guarantee any confidentiality with respect to any information submitted using the 311 App. In addition, you agree that you are not entitled to any compensation or reimbursement of any kind from the City for your submissions under any circumstances.
4. User Conduct
If you use the 311 App to submit a service request, photograph, or other information that the City, in its sole discretion, deems to be untrue, inaccurate, offensive, defamatory, threatening, obscene, not current, incomplete, or generally of a nature that does not pertain to the designated topic or theme or does not comply with this Agreement, or the City has reasonable grounds to suspect that such information is untrue, inaccurate, offensive, defamatory, threatening, obscene, not current, incomplete or generally of a nature that does not pertain to the designated topic or theme or does not comply with this Agreement, the City has the right to suspend or terminate your account and any service requests you may have submitted, and may refuse you current or future use of the 311 App (or any portion thereof) and immediately terminate this Agreement without notice to you.
You agree and acknowledge that the City has no obligation to pre-screen service requests submitted using the 311 App, and that the displaying of a service request, including any related photographs or geographic locations, in the 311 App does not imply, state, or represent that the City has confirmed or accepts the validity of the service request. The City retains the option, at all times and at its sole discretion, to refuse or remove any information submitted or displayed in the 311 App, including but not limited to any photographs, information, or content that violates this agreement or is deemed offensive, objectionable, or inappropriate.
5. Links
If the City provides any links or other direction to third-party content or websites through the 311 App, you agree that such content is provided solely as a convenience to you. Third-party content or websites are independently developed by parties other than the City and the City assumes no responsibility for the accuracy or appropriateness of the information contained in such content or websites. The inclusion of any link to another website or any other external content does not imply an endorsement by the City and should not be construed as an endorsement of that party or its product or services. If you decide to access such external links or websites, you do so entirely at your own risk.
No, none of your personal information is being shared publicly. Only you will see your information for requests you submitted on the 'You' Tab on your mobile device.
We require your personal information to contact you if follow-up is required. The City of Edmonton adheres to Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) legislation.

5. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless the City and its officials, officers, employees and authorized representatives from and against any liability or any form of loss injury, demand, action, cost, expense or claim of any kind, (including lawyer’s fees), relating in any way to your use of the 311 App, including, but not limited to, your connection to the 311 App, your use of the 311 App or any contents therein, any submissions made to the 311 App by you or another user, or your use of a third party’s submissions to the 311 App.
