A family playing football on a local park

The City of Edmonton is developing several school parks.

Project Overview

The City of Edmonton is developing school parks in a number of neighbourhoods to prepare for new schools on these sites and for the use and enjoyment of all residents.

These parks were previously classified as community parks. In early 2026, the City of Edmonton updated its park classification system to include school parks. School parks are designed to support elementary and junior high schools, in addition to community use. Documents on this page completed before this name change will still refer to the projects as Community Park Development.

All of these parks will meet a base-level park development design. School parks typically contain playgrounds, sports fields, gathering areas and school buildings. The City will grade, plant grass and landscaping, add park furniture and new shared pathways and develop sports fields. Some parks may have a playground developed or expanded as part of their design. Elements like ice rinks, off-leash dog parks and other amenities outside base-level development fall outside these projects' scope.

Public engagement to provide feedback during planning and design will take place for each park site. Design options, public engagement opportunities and other project information will be shared as available in the park sections below.
