Due to significant accumulation of snow over this season, crews will be clearing and removing snow from more than 3,000 cul-de-sacs in Edmonton. This will begin February 18 and will take approximately six weeks to complete.
Clearing will occur Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm, to allow for more accessible and convenient parking on evenings and weekends. Initial clearing of each cul-de-sac will take about one hour to clear and pile the snow in a central location. Crews with different equipment return five to seven days later to remove the piled snow.
When snow falls, the City works hard to ensure safe mobility no matter how Edmontonians choose to travel across the city. Learn more about how we respond to snow and ice in your neighbourhood and on major roads.
There are several parking options depending on which ban is underway.
During a Major Roads Phase 1 Parking Ban, the City clears major roads, core business areas and bus routes such as busy roads like Jasper Avenue or 124 Street. A Residential and Industrial Roads Phase 2 Parking Ban is sometimes called after a Major Roads Parking Ban. These are the quieter roads, like the one in front of your house. It is dependent on many factors, such as the amount of snowfall.
