Feature Pyramid Schedule
Our feature pyramid exhibit changes completely 5-7 times per year, providing new experiences to visitors. Unique themed displays and fabulous seasonal celebrations highlight the creativity of the Muttart staff.
A Touch of Dutch
March 8 to April 6, 2014
Thousands of colourful tulips, daffodils and hyacinths bring the Netherlands to Edmonton for our annual spring bulb show. As you walk through the bloom-filled pyramid, you may feel as if you’ve been transported to the “Keukenhof”, Europe’s largest bulb show.
Kissed by a Rose
April 12 to June 15, 2014
Romantic roses compliment beautiful hydrangeas and geraniums in our annual wedding show. Take a romantic walk under a natural arbor, enjoy the delicate blooms from a marble bench, and share a special moment under an adorned gazebo. Hydrangeas will be featured until mid-May, when a changeover will turn the spotlight onto Geraniums.
Canada’s First Nations: Stories of Creation
June 21 to August 17, 2014
For centuries, storytelling has been used to pass down knowledge from generation to generation. Inspired by Aboriginal stories of creation, this summer show aims to share important stories of Canadian heritage and First Nations peoples. Summer annuals and a variety of grasses will be the featured plant material in this summer display.
The Queen of Hearts Garden
August 23 to October 5, 2014
Step into the magical world of Lewis Carroll for this whimsical show. Search for the Mad Hatter among countless red blooms, marvel at enchanting topiaries, and enjoy the bright annuals in this summer display. But be careful: don’t let the Red Queen catch you!
October 11 to November 23, 2014
Why is there so much buzz about orchids? Find out for yourself with a visit to this collaborative show, put on by the Muttart Conservatory in partnership with the Orchid Species Preservation Society. Featuring a large diversity of orchids, this show will focus on the amazing relationships orchids maintain with other living things in order to survive.
Orchids will be featured until October 27, when a changeover will have chrysanthemums, lantana and dahlias taking centre stage.
A Polar Christmas
November 29 to January 5, 2014
Canada’s most charismatic animal takes centre stage in our annual holiday show. Hundreds of red and white poinsettias will transform the feature pyramid into the home of a favorite arctic animal: the polar bear. Created out of hundreds of chrysanthemum flowers, our polar bear will be accented by illuminated icebergs. This festive display is sure to delight visitors young and old.
