Outdoor Aquatic Strategy
On Wednesday, January 16, 2008, City Council approved City Policy C534, Outdoor Aquatics. A comprehensive Outdoor Aquatic Strategy for Edmonton implements the policy providing direction for outdoor swimming pools, spray parks, spray decks, wading pools, and swimming lakes.
This project was initiated by Council as part of a 2005 review of outdoor pools. The strategy recognizes the lifestyle benefits of outdoor aquatics for people of all ages and abilities. It also recognizes the greater benefit to communities and to the city as a whole.
A key message in the strategy is the balance of neighbourhood, district, and city level outdoor aquatic facilities throughout Edmonton.
