Neighbourhood Renewal construction in Gariepy has wrapped up for the 2025 construction season!
Construction began in May 2025 and was finished the fourth week of October. The 2025 construction season was a success, and we completed the majority of the planned construction, including the reconstruction of roads, sidewalks, curbs and gutters in the following areas:
- 57 Avenue, 59 Avenue, 60 Avenue, 61 Avenue, 172 Street, 173 Street, 174 Street, 175 Street, 176 Street, 177 Street and Gariepy Crescent.
There was some work in the 2025 construction area that was not completed. The installation of new streetlights is being coordinated with EPCOR and is scheduled for completion by spring of 2026. Work remains ongoing at the two pedestrian bridges over Gariepy Ravine. The bridges are currently being installed and will be open for public use in late November 2025. Due to seasonal constraints, the remaining path and landscaping work around the bridges is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2026.
October 2025
Construction of new sidewalks is on schedule. Road reconstruction has begun on 57 Avenue and 172 Street, which will result in localized road closures. The replacement of street lights and poles is now tentatively scheduled for November, dependent on EPCOR crew availability.
September 2025
Work on the new sidewalks is progressing on schedule. Work has begun on the reconstruction of 57 Avenue and 172 Street roadways and will have localized road closures. The replacement of the street lights and poles is scheduled to start in September, depending on coordination with EPCOR.
August 2025
A full road closure of 57 Avenue from 175 Street to Lessard Drive is now in place. This closure will be in effect until August 29, 2025. Refer to the sketch for the affected areas and follow posted detours.
All of the drainage replacements and relocations have been completed. Work on the new sidewalks are progressing on schedule. The paving of Gariepy Crescent is underway and will be completed shortly. The road reconstruction of 57 Avenue in front of Centennial School is currently underway and is proceeding on schedule. The replacement of the street lights and poles is scheduled to start at the end of August, depending on coordination with EPCOR.
The work in Gariepy Park and Top of Bank Park (along 53 Avenue and Lessard Drive) has also started. This work is being delivered by a separate contractor and will be monitored by Open Space Infrastructure Delivery.
