All Lanes on Scona Road and 99 Street Open
November 10, 2011
Construction completed for 2011
Crews have completed their work on all lanes of traffic on both Scona Road and 99 Street, ensuring that commuters will have access to and from the downtown area through Edmonton’s scenic river valley through the winter.
“The opening of the final northbound lane on Scona Road marks the last milestone achievement on the project,” says Mayor Stephen Mandel. “I congratulate the project team on their hard work, and thank residents and businesses impacted by the construction over the last six months for their patience.”
As of noon on Friday, November 11, there will be two lanes northbound and three lanes southbound for the full length of Scona Road. Commuters are reminded that this coming spring, there will be residual noise wall, landscaping and mill & overlay work that will require some off-peak lane closures to complete.
The Scona Road rehabilitation/widening cost $19.02M and the 99 Street rehabilitation had a budget of $6.6M.
Detailed drawings and background documents on the project are available by visiting the project website.
