City Reminds Residents to Stay Off the Ice
November 22, 2011
North Saskatchewan River unsafe to walk on
As temperatures fall, the City of Edmonton reminds citizens that water bodies in and around Edmonton are not yet safe to walk on, skate on, or drive across, though they may appear to be frozen.
The City recommends avoiding all bodies of water as colder temperatures and snow cover make them unsafe. People and their pets should stay off all lakes, creeks, ponds and, especially, the North Saskatchewan River.
It is never safe to go on the North Saskatchewan River even when it is frozen.
