Edmonton will host Country Music Week® and Canadian Country Music Awards® in 2013 and 2014

July 14, 2011

Edmonton will host Country Music Week and the Canadian Country Music Awards in both 2013 and 2014. The announcement was made by Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA)® Executive Director Don Green, who praised the city’s previous support and execution of the national event.

“Edmonton has a proven track record for hosting both Country Music Week and the Canadian Country Music Awards, bringing in record high ticket sales, sponsorship, attendance and viewership for the 2010 Awards show,” said Green.

The decision comes as no surprise to Mayor Stephen Mandel. “Edmonton has a great deal of experience hosting high profile events such as Country Music Week and the Canadian Country Music Awards. Our city is equipped with world-class facilities, a proven local host committee, a dedicated pool of volunteers, and a solid country music fan base,” said Mayor Mandel. “Edmonton is the ideal city for the CCMA® to host both events for two consecutive years.”

Edmonton hosted the Country Music Week and the Canadian Country Music Awards in 2004 and 2010.

This year’s event will be held in Hamilton, Ontario. Saskatoon, Saskatchewan will be the host city for 2012.
