Through Block Parties and Play Streets, workshops and other activities, we support building connections and relationships between families living on the same street, building or cul-de-sac.
Block parties are an opportunity to get together and build connections and relationships: meet each other, have fun and collaborate on an everyday activity all year long.
Depending on the type of event, you can plan a Block Party in a variety of locations:
Connect online with those who cannot join your in-person gathering. Start by creating a chat group or organizing a virtual event.
You can use a private or common area to meet with your neighbours and have a small gathering. Usually, the private property areas to have a Block Party are:

Do you want to create a space for children and youth to have a street hockey game or just host a safe space for them to play? Play Streets allow residents from the same area to play together in residential streets temporarily closed to vehicular traffic.
Note: A street can be closed only once per season at the same specific location.

We offer guidance to groups and organizations regarding community led processes, community initiatives like gardens, courts, and rinks, neighbourhood and district placed community development training, support and skills-building workshops and network building. Finally, we partner with and mobilize local capacity to address local priorities and opportunities.

If you have a new neighbour, reach out and offer to be their tour guide.
