Project History
Neighbourhood Renewal work in Grandview Heights is now complete across the entire neighbourhood. 2021 was the second year of the planned 2-year construction program in Grandview Heights. We would like to thank all residents for their patience during the construction process.
Neighbourhood renewal construction started the week of April 26, 2021. If you live in an area of the neighbourhood that will experience construction, the Contractor working for the City will deliver a bulletin outlining details such as timeframes of construction, landscaping and access information. This will happen prior to the start of construction in front of your house.
Work will take place within project areas 33, 34, 35, and 36 over the course of the construction season (see Project Area map).
With the arrival of warmer weather, neighbourhood renewal work along 62 Avenue and the adjoining cross streets (129, 128, 127, and 124 Street) is now in progress. Work will generally progress to the north and east across the neighbourhood over the coming months.
Street lighting replacements will take place across the entire neighbourhood over the course of several weeks beginning in mid-May.
The landscaping subcontractor will also return in early May to repair any of the new landscaping that may have been damaged over the winter, and they will continue restoring landscaping across the neighbourhood as new renewal construction work is completed within each project area.
Neighbourhood renewal work is complete for 2020 in Grandview Heights! The 2020 Grandview Heights construction season began in June and was the first year of the 2-year renewal for this neighbourhood.
In June, work began with the relocation and upgrading of drainage structures. In July, August and September, the renewal of concrete structures (including sidewalks and curbs) in the areas planned for 2020 was completed. In September and October, all planned road reconstruction and paving was completed. The planned 2020 project scope including drainage, road and concrete work was successfully completed on time and on budget. This included the placement of all sod and the new shared-use path on 62 Avenue and Grandview Drive. Street lights will be swapped out on pedestals in the coming months.
Neighbourhood renewal work will resume in Grandview Heights in May 2021, exact dates depend on the weather. Prior to work resuming, construction notifications will be delivered to impacted residences.
The 2020 Grandview Heights construction season began in June. This is the first year of the 2-year neighbourhood renewal for this neighbourhood. In June, work began with the relocation and upgrading of drainage structures throughout the neighbourhood.
In July, the renewal of concrete structures including sidewalks and curbs started at Grandview Drive and 125 Street. Twenty per cent of the concrete work and 90% of the drainage work planned for 2020 were completed.
This month, it is anticipated that all of the drainage work will be completed, about half of the concrete work will be installed and excavation work will be underway for the new shared-use path on 62 Avenue and Grandview Drive.
Grandview Heights will start construction in July 2020. It is a planned 2-year renewal with an anticipated completion in 2021. For a breakdown of how construction is planned year-by-year, see the Construction Map.
Please watch your mailbox for construction bulletins that will provide more information along with contact details for any concerns regarding landscaping and access.

-
Improved connections for people who walk and bike

Engagement Summary
At the Vision Confirmation and Community Options event on February 21, 2019, we explored opportunities around community green spaces and parks, connectivity and corridors, placemaking (creating public spaces that promote health, happiness and well-being) and how you move around your neighbourhood. Input gathered will be used to refine the vision and guiding principles and further explore areas of opportunity for Grandview Heights. If you were unable to attend, please view the event materials.
Additional information about the Grandview Heights Neighbourhood Renewal can be found in the February 2019 Project Overview.
The City hosted a Community Walk, Vision and Guiding Principles Workshop on December 5. During the walk, participants explored topics like traffic, connectivity, neighbourhood open/park space and place making (creating public spaces that promote health, happiness, and well-being). Following the community walk, the Vision and Guiding Principles workshop allowed for the sharing of ideas and feedback on the Neighbourhood Renewal project.
