Solar energy works in any climate and the fuel (sunshine) is free. Edmonton's winter climate is well-suited to solar energy. With 2,300 hours of sun in an average year, our city is one of the sunniest cities in Canada.

Solar Rebate Program
The City of Edmonton is pleased to offer an incentive for multi-unit residential properties to install solar energy on their roof. Eligible property owners ready to go solar could qualify for Edmonton’s Solar Rebate Program and save $0.50/watt towards the cost of a rooftop solar energy system. Properties must have four or more permitted units or dwellings and are eligible for rebates based on the size of their system, to a maximum $4,000 per dwelling and a maximum of $100,000 total rebate per property owner per calendar year.
The Edmonton incentive only applies to residential properties, not industrial or commercial properties.
