Road Bans
Restricted roadways are posted with signs showing the required axle weight reduction (expressed as a percentage of the licensed axle weight). Consult the Road Bans Listing for current load bans and prohibitions; bans are reviewed seasonally and annually.
- A spring road ban comes into effect on March 1 and expires on June 1 each year unless a shorter period is designated
- A seasonal road ban comes into effect on March 1 and expires on December 17 each year unless a shorter period is designated
- An annual road ban is from January 1 to December 31 (unless otherwise noted)
Note: Exemptions will not be issued for any road bans.
Roads with thin pavement, oiled roads and some gravel roads must be protected by reducing allowable axle weights. A vehicle on a highway is subject to a road ban if the weight of the carrying axle or axle group of the vehicle exceeds the specified percentage axle weight imposed by the road ban.
