Methods of Payment
The City of Edmonton offers several convenient options for paying for Licence and Permit fees:
In Person
Payments for the following items are accepted at the Edmonton Service Centre. Please remember to provide the invoice or bill.
- Business Licences
- Mechanical Permit
- Building Permit
- Parking Fine
- Business Taxes
- Parks and Recreation Billing
- City Property Rental Bill
- Property and Meter Permit
- Development Permit
- Property Taxes
The City no longer accepts payment of Alberta Health Services Ambulance Bills at our office. These payments (cheque or money order) should be redirected to: Alberta Health Services, PO Box 1260, Edmonton Main, Edmonton, AB, T5J 2M8.
Payment Types
We accept the following payment types: Cash, Personal and Company Cheques, Money Orders, Bank Debit Cards (Interac), Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.
If applying by email, or mail, a service representative will call you to advise you of your fees.
Permits/Licences are not issued until all fees have been paid.
Alternate methods of payment:

Payments can be made by appointment only at the Edmonton Service Centre.
Please note: you must have your invoice or City File Number in order to make a payment in person.

Due to the complexity of processing certain applications, our office will not accept the following applications after 4pm:
- Personals
- Business Licences
- Vehicle for Hire Drivers Licences
Electronic Funds Transfer
Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) can be used to pay for City services such as permits, licences and land development applications. It’s limited to payments of $5,000 and over. Partial payments are not allowed with this payment option.
To make EFT payments:
- Complete the online form to receive City of Edmonton banking information and process instructions
- Consult with your financial institution, should you require an EFT online banking account

Payment Card Security Policy
The City of Edmonton, in accordance with the Payment Card Industry security standards, has taken measures to protect your payment card information.
We are required to delete applications submitted with credit card information by unsecured methods such as fax or email.
If fee payment is required as part of your application, we accept cash, debit, cheque or credit card. If applying by fax, email or mail, a service representative will call you to advise you of your fees.
