The City has been developing land for over 60 years, and our program is always evolving to best support the City’s growth and goals. As part of a continuous land development cycle, we plan and service the land for residential, industrial, commercial and mixed-uses in accordance with City Policy C511A.
These preparations help the developed lands align with The City Plan, ConnectEdmonton and the Community Energy Transition Strategy as Edmonton grows into a healthy, urban and climate resilient city of 2 million people.
Following development activities, the lands are publicly sold. In some cases, the lands are developed to support other City capital projects such as affordable housing, parks or recreation centres. In these instances, following development activities, the land is used for the City’s programs and purposes.
