Construction Update - November 2024

Alley Renewal construction in the Beverly Heights neighbourhood has wrapped up for the 2024 construction season!

2024 construction began in June and was finished the last week of September. The 2024 construction season was a success and we completed all planned construction.

Alley Renewal work will resume in the Beverly Heights neighbourhood in the first week of May 2025, weather permitting. The planned scope for 2025 will include reconstruction of alleys between 50 Street to 38 Street south of 114 Avenue to Ada Boulevard. Prior to work resuming, construction notifications will be delivered to impacted residences.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we completed another successful year of Alley Renewal construction. Alley Renewal construction in the Beverly Heights neighbourhood began in 2024 and is expected to take three years.

Alley renewal in Beverly Heights is progressing on time and on budget.

Garbage and Recycle Collection

While your alley is closed for construction, waste cart collection will occur from your front street or avenue. Residents are asked to temporarily relocate carts and recycle bags to the front of your property during alley closures for pick-up on collection days. Carts and bags should be placed in a visible location along the curb or back of the sidewalk, at which point collection workers will manoeuver carts so they can be emptied.

We recommend you identify your home address in the space provided on the carts to ensure your assigned carts are returned to your home after collection.

Alley Renewal: Overview

About the Project

Alley Renewal involves alley reconstruction and repaving, improvements to surface drainage where possible, and upgrading of existing alley lighting to LED fixtures. It also includes the opportunity for a local improvement to add alley lighting if property owners are interested. Utility assessments and repairs, along with removals and pruning of trees and shrubs, are also completed.

Construction began in spring 2024 and is anticipated to be complete in fall 2026.
