Land Use and Oil and Gas Facilities
The City of Edmonton has adopted an Oil and Gas Policy that establishes protocols and expectations for the safe and orderly co-existence between oil and gas facilities and urban development. The procedures contained within the policy provide requirements for:
- Development around existing oil and gas facilities
- Processes and expectations for new or expanding oil and gas facilities
- Setbacks for abandoned wells; and
- Area Structure Plan and Neighbourhood Structure Plan
Oil and Gas Liaison Officer
The Liaison Officer is the main contact for any questions or inquiries with regards to development around oil and gas facilities and proposals for expanding or new oil and gas facilities in and around the City of Edmonton.
Office of Emergency Management
Oil and gas facility owners and operators should continue to communicate their Emergency Response Plans (ERP) with the City of Edmonton's Office of Emergency Management.
