City Hall Parkade Closure

The City Hall parkade remains closed until all safety measures for City Hall are completed. Parking is available at Canada Place parkade, Stanley A. Milner Library parkade, or EPark zones on-street. Please contact 311 if you have questions related to the closure.

EPark is the City of Edmonton’s owned and operated paid parking program which manages paid parking at all curbside locations across the city and 3 parkades: City Hall Parkade, Library Parkade and Canada Place Parkade.

EPark allows customers to pay for City-managed parking stalls by mobile device, online or by using an EPark machine.

HotSpot Parking App

The HotSpot App is now available for EPark. Visit Google Play or the App Store to download the app. Make sure your location is set to Edmonton in the app.

How to Use EPark

Paying at the Machine

You can pay for your parking session using the HotSpot FastTap service or with cash (coins), credit card, or prepaid credit card*.

If using HotSpot FastTap:

Look for the decal with the QR code on the front of the machine
Scan the QR code using the camera on your phone
Tap the link
Follow the prompts on the HotSpot popup screen

Note: Debit cards are not currently accepted.

You do not need to display a ticket on your dashboard once payment is accepted and your session is active.

* Pre-paid credit cards must be registered prior to the transaction.

Paying Online

You can pay online if you are not near a machine. You will need to enter a zone number when starting a parking session online. See the EPark Zone map to find the zone number for the location you plan to park.

Paying by App

The HotSpot Parking app is now available to pay for EPark, which can be downloaded from Google Play or the App Store.

Funds with over $25 in deactivated MyEPark accounts have been transferred over to HotSpot as a parking credit. Use the app or open a HotSpot account online to access the parking credit. Make sure to use the email address associated with your former MyEPark account to ensure your credit is linked, and set your location to Edmonton.

Corporate Parking

Businesses or organizations can manage parking for their vehicle fleets or cover parking costs incurred by their staff through the course of their daily work. There are no subscriptions or fees with corporate accounts.

Setting Up an Account

Open the HotSpot app
Select “Want to park your employees and customers? Click Here”
Fill in the registration form with your First Name, Last Name, Address, City (Edmonton)*, Email Address, and Password
Click the Register button to create your account
Check your email for a confirmation message from HotSpot

*You must register in Edmonton to prevent any membership costs.
Note: The yearly membership cost of $80 does not apply to Edmonton.

Managing an Account

To add employees, select Corporate Parking from side main menu and add name and email address
To add funds, select Billing from side menu, then select Business Wallet tab. Add credit card information and fund amount (you may also select auto-recharge so it refills to when funds go below a certain amount)
To view payment history, select Billing from side menu, then select Payment History
To view parking history, select Billing from side menu, then select Parking Transactions
To control hours of operation, select Profile from side menu, then select Hours of Operation to date and times when corporate parking can be used

Employee Parking

Getting Access to an Account

You will receive an email notification that you have been added to an account, the email address indicated in the notification will be used to access the account
Download the HotSpot app and select Sign In
Select Forgot Your Password at bottom of the screen
When prompted, enter the email address from the notification and select Next
You will receive an email with instructions on resetting the password, check your spam folder if you don't see an email
Sign into the account using the app
Select Vehicles from side menu, then Add a New Vehicle to select a vehicle at default from the list Your Vehicles

Starting and Ending Parking

In the app, select Parking icon from the bottom of the menu
Your default vehicle should appear. If not, select Vehicles then Change Vehicle to select the one you are using to park
Enter the zone number and select duration of stay
Select Corporation under the Who Pays field
A screen will appear to indicate a successful parking session has started, with buttons to Add Time or End Session if needed (the Parking icon remains highlights in app when parking session is in progress)

Event Nights

Event night rates apply when there is a Rogers Place event with an expected attendance of over 10,000 people. This applies to stalls from 97 Street to 109 Street and Jasper Avenue to 107 Avenue.

On-street rates can go as high as $4.50 per hour during event nights while parkade rates can go as high as $5 per hour during the weekdays.

General Frequently Asked Questions

Why the increase in operating hours?

Extending hours will ensure operating hours align with local business hours. Other Canadian cities - including Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal - have operating hours for Sundays and for special events.

The City currently extends operating hours for events downtown during evenings and Sundays, so extending hours will be consistent with other cities. Every parking session in an EPark zone includes 15 minutes of free parking during regular operating hours.

Why the increase in rates?

The update reflects current parking demands resulting from the city’s significant growth in recent years. Council moved to update the maximum parking fee bylaw so the City can apply parking rates based on demand.

The updated paid parking structure is consistent with other Canadian cities that have adjusted pricing in response to parking demand, with lower rates for lower-demand areas and higher rates in high-demand areas - including Calgary, Regina, Vancouver and Winnipeg.

Where are rates increasing?

Hourly parking rates will increase from $3.50 to $4.50 for high-demand EPark zones located at Rice Howard Way, 103 Street between 102 Avenue and 103 Avenue, and 104 Street between Jasper Ave and 104 Avenue.

These on-street parking stalls experience occupancy rates of 75% or more, which are determined by vehicles parked during EPark operational hours divided by available parking spaces.

The adjustment impacts 14 out of 385 EPark zones, or 4% of all EPark zones in Edmonton.

The new pricing rate is competitive with rates for surface private parking lots, which charge between $4.00 to $6.00 an hour.

Pricing for lower demand areas, less than 75% occupancy rate, will remain at $1.00 to $2.50 an hour.

What will be done with the increase in revenue?

Increased revenues will offset the tax levy as approved by Council in the 2023-2026 budget and ensure Edmontonians continue to have a sustainable tax rate.

As part of the Curbside Management Strategy, the City will be looking at creating parking benefit districts which may produce longer-term opportunities to invest back into services and communities. However, the immediate, short-term goal is for the City to achieve pre-COVID revenue targets.

Is the City removing EPark Stalls as well?

The City is removing 68 EPark zones in low-performing areas. These following areas will instead become either 2 or 3 hour maximum time-restricted parking stalls, encouraging turnover and maintaining parking availability.

Are there EPark zones coming to other areas?

Yes, the City regularly consults with Business Improvement Areas (BIAs) on parking management that responds to parking demands in their communities. In 2024, the following new EParks will be added:

Four zones for the North Edge BIA on February 4, 2024
Five zones for the Alberta Avenue BIA, 3 on January 15, 2024, and 2 on January 29, 2024

Will increased fees make parking available only to people with higher income?

Increased parking rates help offset increasing the overall tax levy for Edmontonians.

The new pricing rates are competitive with other parking options such as private parking facilities and parkades. Parkers with accessible placards will continue to have two hours of free parking in any EPark curbside zone.

Parking will be free, but the time restriction will encourage turnover and maintain parking availability.

Raising rates downtown may discourage residents from visiting the downtown core. What is being done to address these concerns?

We understand low-cost or free parking was one of the features that attracted visitors to the downtown.

The pricing adjustments will occur for three locations in the downtown area: Rice Howard Way, 103 Street between 102 Avenue and 103 Avenue , and 104 Street between Jasper Avenue and 104 Avenue . These areas are high-demand areas where occupancy is 75% or greater and where the adjusted pricing will increase more turnover so people can find parking space. This impacts 14 out of 385 EPark zones or 4% of all EPark zones in Edmonton.

The updated EPark fees are competitive with other parking options such as private parking facilities and parkades. Downtown bike facilities, LRT stations, bus transit service and other services are available for people who wish to visit downtown without using a personal vehicle.

Free 15 minute parking will be available for customers and service vehicles doing pick-up or deliveries at local businesses.

EPark zones close to downtown, such as Chinatown, that are low-performing are being removed and replaced with 2 or 3 hour time restricted parking. Parking will be free, but the time restriction will encourage turnover and maintain parking availability. Parkers with accessible placards will continue to have two hours of free parking in any EPark curbside zone.

The City is working with partners to ensure downtown remains a destination for Edmontonians, by supporting efforts to keep places clean, safe, and beautiful, marketing and promoting business, cultural and artistic events and activities, and attracting new businesses, services, and residencies.

How will extending operating hours and adjusting rates impact parking around hospitals, medical institutions and post-secondary education institutions?

All parking areas around institutions with lower occupancy rates will continue to be in the $1.00 to $2.50 per hour range. The updated operating hours and the return to 15 minute free parking will encourage more turnover so parking space for short term visits to medical facilities and hospitals is more available.

Parkers with accessible placards will continue to have two hours of free parking in any EPark curbside zone. There are many off-street parking facilities for longer term stays, including employee parking.

Open Option Parking allows for institutions to work with neighbouring partners to determine the right amount of parking that is needed on-street and off-street for visitor and employee needs as opposed to following minimum parking requirements.

Corporate Parking Customers

Can one email manage the monthly parker corporate account and hourly corporate account?

No, separate parking administration emails are required for monthly and hourly parking corporate accounts. One email can only be used to create a single account, be it a user, city admin, bundle admin, corporate parking admin, or any other kind of HotSpot account

Does Hotspot have a feature like "Park-a-Friend" in EPark?

No, all individuals are required to be added as users to park under the corporate account.

How do employees get approved to park as a corporate user?

Business areas must determine eligibility and follow their defined approval route.

Who ensures responsible parking usage and audits parking history?

Business areas must determine these conditions and apply them as required.

Parking administrators will have access to all parking history.

How do I delete the corporate account?

You can contact support@htsp.ca to delete your corporate account.

How do I change administrators?

You can contact support@htsp.ca to change the Administrator.

Will the administrator receive a notification if the account reaches the minimum balance?

No, please enable auto recharge to ensure there is sufficient funds in the wallet.
