Fort Edmonton Park streetcar

The Fort Edmonton Park Renewal Project (2023-2026) is renewing infrastructure in Fort Edmonton Park so visitors can continue learning, exploring and discovering the Park’s history and culture.

About the Project

The City of Edmonton completed condition assessments on 111 buildings in Fort Edmonton Park. These condition assessments identified renewal priorities in the park. Some buildings have reached the end of their lifecycle and need rehabilitation, repair or replacement.

The Fort Edmonton Park Renewal Project will address selected buildings' electrical, mechanical and structural components. This work includes the replacement of roofing, doors and interior finishes along with the renewal of building furnaces and boilers. Rehabilitation work started in summer 2024 and is anticipated to be completed in fall 2026.

The project is being completed in a phased approach so that only a few buildings will be under construction at a time. This approach will reduce overall construction impacts for Fort Edmonton Park visitors.

What to Expect During Your Visit to Fort Edmonton Park

As part of the Fort Edmonton Park Renewal Project, some buildings will be closed during work to repair, rehabilitate or replace them.

While we anticipate building closures will have minimal impact on visitor experiences, we are working hard to complete the work as quickly and safely as possible.
