The City provides accessible parking stalls to support accessibility in residential neighbourhoods at no cost.

Residents can complete the following form to request or remove an accessible parking stall near their residence. Residents may be contacted for renewal purposes to confirm if an accessible stall is still required.

If you are renting the property, you must first get written permission from the property owner to have an accessible stall near their property. Download the owner’s letter of permission and share with the owner. You can attach to the application via a PDF, a scanned copy, or a clear photo of the owner’s letter. Please be sure the name, address and signature are clear in the image.

Every attempt will be made to accommodate the spot closest to the applicant’s residence, but it is not guaranteed a stall can be installed in front of the residence. The City may have to remove or relocate accessible parking stalls when required for operational reasons such as construction. When possible, residents will be given a minimum of 14 days notice before any changes to the stall occurs. An effort will be made to relocate the stall if circumstances allow. Please be advised that due to potential emergency scenarios, we may need to remove your stall on short notice. We will make every effort to notify you as soon as possible should this occur.

Residential accessible parking stalls are available for use by any vehicle that displays a valid Parking Placard for People with Disabilities. Accessible parking stalls are not designated for use by a single person or property and parked vehicles must abide by Traffic Bylaw 5590

Accessible parking stalls cannot be installed at requested locations in the following circumstances:

  • The residence has a driveway leading to the street
  • There is access to alternate residential accessible parking zones
  • The space is close to a fire hydrant, bus stop, or other public infrastructure
  • The curbside space is used for major bus routes, bike lanes, or emergency lanes

Please note curb drops cannot be installed, as new residential accessible parking stalls are not considered permanent assets.
